Västerbotten coast played a major role during the final drama of the 1808-09 war between Sweden and Russia. At the peace negotiations after the clash in Ratan started a now 200 years long period of peace in Sweden. Finland was part of Sweden for 600 years was lost.
The journey begins with the war graves and monuments in Umeå, going on to Krutbrånet in Savar and Ratan, "Norrland port" with old buildings, Cultural Centre and mareograph. The trip of approximately 100 km can also include Bygdeå medieval church and Robertsfors industrial community with the museum.
